The Hottest Colours For The Bedroom In 2018

This year Pantone announced its colour of the year as Ultra Violet 18-3838.  Yes, more or less purple!  We are noticing a big trend on the Central Coast in home decorating embracing this colour for their blinds. Especially in the master bedroom.

Blinds in the bedroom are often blockout blinds and we are one of the few independent blind companies on the Central Coast that are not locked into any one brand or fabric.

Many customers often comment on our variety of colours, patterns and textures available.

So why is Purple so popular in the Master Bedrooms?

Purple is apparently the colour of "spirituality". It's the combination of the calmness of Blue and the energy of Red to create Violet. A colour that inspires reflection and self-awareness.

It's also a colour that has long been associated with Royalty and evokes a sense of quality, luxury, and style.

Make no mistake, it's not that we just sell purple blinds, it's what purple goes with, and what feelings it creates.

Purple can be a warm cosy colour ideal for a soothing room like the bedroom. Purple can come in so many hues, and therefore can go with so many colours. Starting with a;

  • Purple palette, we've seen it go great with warm and cool greys. Natural materials like timber. Cane, metal like Brass and Silver and fluffy throws and cushions.
  • Purple and Greys together can be neither feminine or masculine, but when you start mixing tones, textures and different materials, you start creacting a space of comfort and serenity.
  • Our best seller for this palette is the Charcoal grey blinds and the texture grey blinds. Textured blockout blinds give another layer of depth to a room and make it more inviting.

What are some other options:

  • Custom coloured Plantation Shutters (we can do them in any Dulux colour you choose for a small surcharge).
  • Printed blinds Choose any colour or design you like and set the mood of the room.
  • Textured blockout blinds. With subtle lighting in a bedroom, a textured blind will pick up different colours in the room and create a cosy feeling.
