Curtain FAQ's
For a sheer curtain in an S-Wave fold, it will take up about 25% of the width of the curtain track when stacked to one side.
For a blockout curtain in a reverse box pleat style, it will take up about 30% of the width of the curtain track when stacked to one side.
When looking at your window, to maximise light, it is ideal to have the curtain stack off the window and on the wall. If this is not possible you may want to use one of our stylish magnetic curtain pull backs to create more view out your window.
Most curtain tracks can go up to 6m (6000mm) with motorised curtains around 5m (5000mm). If you want a wider curtain, you can butt two together and have a centre opening where they join. Curtain tracks can also be bent around corners. When you are ordering a particularly wide curtain it is important to keep in mind the fabric may have joining seams in it. As no curtain fabric is 6 metres wide, the workroom will need to join the fabric. If the curtain is wide, but the drop is not, the workroom may be able to sew the curtain as one continuous curtain with no seam.

The most popular floor clearance for curtains is with a 10mm (1cm) gap to the floor. If the floor is particularly uneven, it may be better to go with touching or breaking curtain clearance as this can sometimes hide the floor irregularities. Some of the natural curtain fabrics like linen curtains will expand and shrink in the weather. For this reason, it is often best to have them touching or breaking to allow for the movement. Curtain floor clearance is a personal preference.

As an example, you could expect to pay an extra $2000 to motorise a 3000mm (3m) curtain. You can get lithium battery rechargeable motors (no sparky needed) or 240-volt motors (needs a sparky) for curtains. Motorised curtains are controlled by a remote. If you have the Connexoon WIFI hub from Somfy you can control your motorised curtain with voice activation or programme the curtain to open and close at certain times of the day.

Sheer curtains are the most popular for their 'just right' privacy and light control. Some clients choose blockout roller blinds behind the curtains and close them at night for added privacy.
