Frequently Asked Questions About Roller Blinds
The maximum width most roller blind fabrics come in is 3000mm (3 metres). There is a new range of fabric that now spans 3200mm (3.2 metres). Roller blinds this wide will often require a bigger roller blind tube or even motorisation. Any blinds 3200 mm wide or less we make in our Wyoming factory. Although we can't make them locally, we can access blinds spanning up to 5400mm requiring even bigger tubes, fabric joins and often motorisation.
We have a huge selection of blockout roller blind fabric in many different colours, textures and price ranges. All the blockout fabrics are 100% blockout. Some of the more premium blockout fabrics are extra thick with a flocked back for added insulation. Remember you will still get a light gap down the sides of the roller blind due to the blind brackets. Zipscreen and Ziptrack interior roller blinds are the most effective block out blinds on the market.
A day/night roller blind, or dual roller blind, is two roller blinds fitted within one window.
Often, one blind is a light filtering roller blind to have down during the day for privacy but still allowing light in, the second is a blockout roller blind at night to make the room as dark as possible.
We use streamlined roller blind brackets that fit neatly against the window frame.
Dual roller blinds can be motorised.
We custom make our roller blinds at our Wyoming factory on the Central Coast.
If you need the blinds quickly, talk to us about our in stock colours (we keep the most popular colours in stock).
We offer a fast 7 day turnaround on a minimum of 3 blinds.
Depending on the brand you would expect to pay $100 to $400 extra. Beware of the cheaper brands as they have a higher "error" rate which will mean they will need to be replaced more regularly. There are re-chargable blind motors that are cheaper than the 240 volt blind motors because they don't require an electrician.
We offer a PVC bumper on the back of the bottom bar that we call the silent bottom bar.
It reduces noise the roller blind might make if it is being blown by the wind.
Both fabrics let light in while still giving you privacy during the day.
Sunscreen fabric allows you to see out of the windows while letting light in and giving you daytime privacy. Sunscreen fabrics are often paired with a blockout fabric on a dual blind to give privacy day and night.
Most light filtering fabrics you cannot see out of but they still let light into the room. This means at night they will still give you privacy. Some light filtering fabric are sheerer than others so talk to your Premier Shades consultant for what best suits your needs.
